Kanan Jarrus, born Caleb Dume, was a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66. His master, Depa Billaba, sacrificed herself to save him during the purge, forcing him into hiding.
He abandoned the ways of the Jedi, adopting the alias Kanan Jarrus and becoming a cynical smuggler. For years, he used his remaining Force abilities only when necessary for survival, suppressing his connection to the Force.
Kanan joined the crew of the Ghost, a rebel starship piloted by Hera Syndulla. His involvement with Hera, Ezra Bridger, and the other crew members led him to rediscover his Jedi path.
He became Ezra's Jedi Master, training him in the Force and teaching him the ways of the Jedi. Kanan played a vital role in the early Rebel Alliance, participating in numerous missions against the Galactic Empire.
Kanan eventually sacrificed himself to save Hera and his friends from an Imperial attack, allowing them to escape. His final act ensured the survival of the rebellion and the continuation of the Jedi legacy through Ezra.
